The lighter side of the Left 4 Dead zompocalypse

L4D 2 announced for November (which means sometime in April 2013)

Well, the E3 mess has kicked off again for another year. Valve has been doing the rounds, and has announced for November 17… not specified of which year… which knowing Valve could mean anytime up until 2043

Anyway, the chainsaws and frying pan melee weapons look cool.

I just want to know if I’ll be able to blast zombies from long range with a fighter jet though.

Looking very nice. I suppose they’re going for the brighter look this time around?

  2.

LIEEEEEEEEEEEES KEEP TF2 IN TF2 ZOMBIE GAMES MUST BE DAAAARK

  3.

I swear that’s Zoey at about 0:33 getting shot. The model is exactly the same, female, pink hoodie, pony tail.

  4.

    Uh.

    Ok….

  5.

    Zombie + Chainsaw = Fun

Doesn’t look appealing at all to me. They released L4D, not even a year ago, and now we’re expected to buy into this? A whole new game?? This has to be an EA stunt.

I seriously just lost some respect for Valve.

Sukiakari: If what Valve says is true (and I trust them for the most part), the employees themselves wanted to make a sequel and started on it right after releasing L4D. According to previews, they’ve added things like AI Director 2.0, gameplay-changing weather effects, and physical changes to the map that occur dynamically, which apparently couldn’t be implemented into the current game without large expenses. So it technically is a business decision, but this is what they wanted to make and it was the logical way to do it.

And besides, they said the first game isn’t being left behind. They will continue to update it (not sure if they will keep rolling out new content though), and there are plans to include L4D’s maps in L4D2 so the community doesn’t get split in half.

Valve says its coming later this year (l4d blog)

    @Baejung92: Yeah, I guess that’s true. I still think it’s a bit too soon.

    My sweet Jesus…

Valve I hope you know what you’re doing, because if this stuff tips ever so slightly, the amount of rage will be epic. The gambit’s been played and only a drunken wit can save this gambler from the hounds of hell.

On a side note, it’s good to see boomercharged.net finally updated and by none other than Madlep himself. It is a good day. A good day indeed.

Was that the scout on the left? Awesome!

  12.

well, if anything does go wrong, (tf2 rpg) we can always complain in hoardes to get what we want. Valve has been making some pretty uncanny calls lately

  13.

Oh man, my worst fears have been met. I bet this is going to be a Deadrising wannabe.

  14.

Left 4 Dead 2: Meet the Klumps
Starring Eddie Murphy, cameos from Jay-Z and Oprah.

Also, when somebody first linked me to ‘Left 4 Dead 2′, I assumed they were just trying to show me Killing Floor and be a dick about it.

When I first saw this on the page, I thought it was a joke.

I *hoped* it was a joke.

Now I’m not sure what to think, but I’m worried.

Expect a rant from me when I finally get my interwebs working properly at home.

Announcement of a secuel a month before of the release of a buggy sdk wich was the las hope of the community? They, ironically, left left 4 dead for dead.

And come on, watch the gameplay videos, it looks like a mod of the original.
After the spy update, valve backstabs their L4D customers…

To me this feels more like an expansion than anything else. In the trailer it looks like it’s just a major reskin with a few new features. I’ll be buying it still, but I think it’d be better if they called it an expansion rather than a whole new game.

  18.

The new characters look interesting, especially the suit guy.

    Jumping to conclusions, aren’t we?

  20.

    @Open-Minded-Red-Neck

    EXACTLY.

  21.

I shelled out 50 bucks for a game that’ll be obsolete after a year? A VALVE game that’ll be obsolete after a year?!? This better be at a good discount for us good people with L4D already in our games list… it’s not like valve to rip us off. (Yes, I know this is par for the course for other game companies, but valve’s supposed to be better than them.)

  22.

I just noticed, for everyone who plays Team Fortress 2, that the Chainsaw that Coach (yes, that’s his official name, go look on Rock Paper Shotgun/IGN for the article) uses has a “Hale” Pro logo.

From the producers of Jarate, perhaps?

  23.

    @Shrake12

Valve is always awesome with their easter eggs.

Now let’s see if they can pull this stunt off.
Knowing Valve, there’s a 95% that this will be successful.

    BTW.
    I came. Multiple times.

  24.

Oh great, when this is released, everyone is just going to want to play as the guy in the suit.

  25.

    @ netcrusher88:

Holy crap. The resemblance is uncanny O.o

  26.

    cOLD in here.

  27.

    0:55

    BONK.

  28.

There is nothing new in this game.. “Flaming bullets, new models and dynamic enviroment” whooray, is that worth of yet another 50e :/ Afterall it uses same engine as the l4d, so wtf, graphics aint going to be a lot better.. Why cant they just make a 10e addon to old one?

  29.

Is it true that the scout from TF2 is going to be an unlockable playable character? that one guy with the axe already looks a bit like the scout. It would be perfect for the little guy. He would be all set with a shotgun, pistol and a bat. can’t wait till they include heavy weapons guy lol. Hell, how bout just a L4D and TF2 crossover =P

    FRIENDLY AIRSTRIKE ON THE WAY

I appear to be the only one not pissed off about Left 4 Dead 2. We might finally get a plot.
Also, do the explosions in the beginning bits look like the Payload explosions?
Scout character, chainsaw made by Saxton Hale, baseball bat, fireaxe, payload explosions, stylising… The makers of this trailer LOVE TF2.
